Here's your chance to dust off your bike ready for the summer. Chichester's first Cycling Festival is being held on Sunday 6 June. Budding cyclists of all ages are invited to the event which is all about getting on two wheels. The festival is being held at at Oaklands Park, Chichester, from midday until 4pm. The free event will celebrate cycling in all its shapes and forms. There will be interactive stands, cycling information and demonstrations going on throughout the afternoon. There's plenty on offer for all ages, including:
There will also be refreshments. Visitors to the festival will be able to learn about the health and environmental benefits of cycling. Amy Roots, Chichester District Council's Community Sports Development Officer, said: "If you are thinking about getting on your bike this summer, the Cycling Festival is the perfect place to start. We want to encourage as many people as possible get on their bikes. Cycling will give your health a boost and it is good for the environment. There will be lots of information available to help you on your way including maps and cycling tips." The Council was awarded £40,600 from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs's air quality grant programme. Part of the money is being used to fund the Cycling Festival. The Cycling Festival is being held just two weeks ahead of National Bike Week, which runs 19 to 27 June. The annual event encourages everyone to get on their bike exploring their local area.
