Havant Borough Council is working together with Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards to set up a unit on Hayling Island to cover the swimming beach area this summer.

If you are 16 or over and want to find out more about this voluntary operation then come to the Hayling Coastguard Station, Hayling Seafront at 7:30pm on Wednesday 28th April.

Coral Hynard, Beachlands Officer at Havant Borough Council said:” We want to provide a safe environment for visitors to enjoy the beach and by providing a lifeguard service to cover the swimming area is a step in the right direction.

“Full training will be given, in first aid resuscitation and all aspects of beach life- guarding to all those who sign up for this new service. If your swimming is not up to scratch, you may be able to help in another way, perhaps by fund raising.”
