| Selsey RNLI launches to 12 metre yacht |

Selsey RNLI lifeboat Betty and Thomas Moore was requested to launch by Solent Coastguard at 6.30pm to assist the 12mtr yacht Louisa'which had run aground following engine failure in the vicinity of the Mixon Beacon approximately 1.25miles south of the lifeboat station. Betty and Thomas Moore was quickly on the scene and a tow was passed to the casualty and was then pulled into deeper water. A check was made for water ingress and all was found to be well. A volunteer crew member was put onboard to assist the crew of the Louisa’and once clear of the reef the sails were set and a course set for Chichester harbour. As the yacht had previously suffered engine and electrical failure the assistance of Selsey’s all-weather lifeboat (ALB) Voluntary Worker was requested at 7.02pm to assist in towing to Sparkes Marina. The ALB was launched at 7.07pm and arrived on scene at 7.20pm. After assisting in setting up a tow the ILB was then released to return to station at 7.23pm and was refueled and ready for service again at 7.45pm. Voluntary Worker towed the Louisa'to Sparkes Marina where she was safely berthed at 8.35pm. After collecting her crew member off the yacht the RNLI lifeboat departed Sparkes Marina at 8.40pm to return to station, arriving back at 9.25pm rehoused immediately and was ready for service once more at 9.45pm.
