The next phase to extend the Hayling Billy Trail through Langstone will begin in August and is expected to be completed at the end of October.

It’s another step towards completing the proposed National Cycle Route 2.

The section runs from Langstone Avenue, around the back of the properties along the west side of Langstone Road, and emerges back onto Langstone Road just North of Langstone Sailing Club.

Sustrans have been the major contributor towards the scheme topped up by Havant Borough Council developer’s contributions.

A link between Langstone Avenue and Langstone High Street was also completed in July.

Future phases of the Billy Line Trail will link the existing Langstone Bridge cycle way to both the Hayling Island and the Langstone sections of the Billy Trail.

Councillor Jenny Wride, whose infrastructure portfolio includes transport, says:

”I am delighted that this phase of the Hayling Billy Trail will be completed this year. Working with our partners, Hampshire County Council and Sustrans, we hope that funding can be found for the next important phase, from Langstone Bridge down the west side of Hayling Island.”
